~~Brazilian subshrub. Highly clumping species. Stems thin, reddish. Leaves ovate-lanceolate with a subcuneate base, pubescent. Inflorescences spike-like, slightly arching, with typical showy red bracts. The flowers are of an intense red inside and orange outside and are at the base of the bracts. Easy to grow, it can withstand almost freezing temperatures. Shade or half shade and drained soil.
