This species has an aerial, thin, creeping rhizome. Leaves almost roundish, 12.5 x 8 cm, cordate at their base and acute at apex, brown green striped with dark brown. Leaves darken in shade. Flowers small and pink, in dense branched inflorescences exceeding the leaves. Compact habit, often procumbent. Very beautiful and showy. Native to Mexico. Shaded exposure and well drained soil. Regular waterings, allowing the soil to partially dry before rewatering. Not hardy.
