This rhizomatous species is native to Colombia. Stems deciduous, up to 10-15 cm long. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, pubescent, green transversely striped with purple-brown. Flowers solitary, bell-shaped, with expanded lobes, 4-5 cm across, light lavender in colour. Compact habit. In winter it goes dormant and dies back to the soil: in this period allow the soil to dry and water twice a month. Drained soil. Shade. Regular waterings when in growth. Not hardy.
